Friday was Sport Relief day, I organised a mini sports day at Pennington Flash for the children alongside some other childminders and their children. The sun was shining, the picnic was scrummy (carrot cake for pudding, mmmm!) and everyone was happy!
We had a lovely day, the children requested lots and lots of running races after we did one, they had so much fun just running, laughing and giggling along the way! There were no winners, no prizes, just lots of fun.
We attempted an egg and spoon race - the younger children struggled with this - you can see how J improvised by carrying his egg in a scoop!
I will definitely plan another sports day during the school holidays, it was a great success!

Bubbles
It was a lovely day today, we had been to Physibodies in the morning, and when we returned we went straight out into the garden to play, and with the exception of a few toilet visits we stayed outside ALL day! The boys played with the (relocated) mud kitchen, on the trampoline, swing and slides, in the sand pit and with the cars. The biggest excitement of the day came when J discovered an almost empty bottle of bubbles and asked me to open it for him. After we had used all of the bubble mixture up I went inside to get a top up and found the bubble machine - hurrah!! This provided endless giggles and laughs and a huge amount of fun, the photos speak for themselves!
And here are a couple of videos of the bubble play - please try to ignore the constant whirring in the background, it is the bubble machine!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Day
To celebrate the start of Spring, we had a Very Hungry Caterpillar Day today! To start off the day we all measured ourselves against our new Hungry Caterpillar height chart. We will be able to measure how much we all grow - even Starbrite Bear was measured - I'm not sure he will grow very much?
J and M painted a Hungry Caterpillar picture using the sponge dabbers. They both tried really hard to follow my instructions and created some lovely pictures! Albie decided he just wanted to paint a spotty picture rather than a caterpillar, his painting was equally as nice!
J and M created a lovely sunflower picture.
After lunch the children had lots of fruit, just like The Very hungry Caterpillar.
J planted a sunflower seed, I wonder how tall it will grow?

Happy Mothers Day!
Happy Mothers Day to all of the children's mummies!
The children have been hard at work over the past few weeks making lots of lovely things for their mummies. The favourite activity was making our lovely soap. We talked about each of the ingredients, we handled them and described their feel, and we smelt them and decided that the plain soap didn't smell of much, but the added perfume was lovely, it reminded us of marzipan! We were allowed to chop up the plain soap with a real knife - how grown up are we! We saw how a solid changed into a liquid, and then how it set back to a solid within a few hours.
And we all agreed that our mummies are the best in the world and that we love them very much!
