Pumpkin Gloop

We carved our pumpkins on Tuesday, it seemed a shame to throw away the slimy, stringy insides of the pumpkins, so I gave it to M to explore!

After a while I added some cornflour, and Albie poured in some orange coloured water to mix together to make 'gloop'.  M wasn't so sure about the cornflour in its powdered form, but he loved it once the water was added!  H couldn't resist and had to join in too!

M got quite messy, but it was worth it for the enjoyment factor!

Halloween Biscuits

It has been a while since I did any baking with the children.  M was asleep and Albie was at pre-school, so J and I decided to make some Halloween biscuits.

J helped to mix the ingredients together...

Then he got stuck in with his hands making a gooey dough....

With great dexterity J then rolled out the dough and used the cutters to make biscuits.  I helped to put the biscuits on the baking tray, but other than a little guidance J did practically everything himself!

As the biscuits were baking J helped to wash the dishes!

Once the biscuits had cooled, J decorated them with orange icing sugar and chocolate sprinkles.

J made the biscuits with only a small amount of interference guidance from myself, and he seemed to really enjoyed himself.

(the biscuits were scrummy by the way!)

Painted Pumpkins

J and M had lots of fun painting their pumpkins (although J was insistent that his pumpkin outline was an apple!) with sponge dabbers.

Once the paint was dry J glued on the mouth, nose and eyes to create Halloween pumpkins - don't they look great!

Pumpkin decorating part 1

I bought a small cooking pumpkin during a late night visit to the supermarket on Monday.  On Tuesday morning Albie was very interested in the pumpkin.  When T came to my house, he too was interested in the pumpkin.

I asked the boys if they would like to decorate it for me - they said they would!  So I gave them some permanent marker pens, and a strict explanation as to why they had to be very careful with the pens!

The finished pumpkin looks lovely!
