To celebrate the start of Spring, we had a Very Hungry Caterpillar Day today! To start off the day we all measured ourselves against our new Hungry Caterpillar height chart. We will be able to measure how much we all grow - even Starbrite Bear was measured - I'm not sure he will grow very much?
J and M painted a Hungry Caterpillar picture using the sponge dabbers. They both tried really hard to follow my instructions and created some lovely pictures! Albie decided he just wanted to paint a spotty picture rather than a caterpillar, his painting was equally as nice!
J and M created a lovely sunflower picture.
After lunch the children had lots of fruit, just like The Very hungry Caterpillar.
J planted a sunflower seed, I wonder how tall it will grow?
There is a pond near to my house that we walk by on the way to school each day. The children noticed that there is a lot of frogspawn in the pond, so each day we go and have a look at it, sometimes there are frogs there too, other days the frogs are hiding. The children love it!
We collected some frogspawn last week which is now in a glass bowl in the kitchen, it is the first thing the children notice as they walk in, and the changes in the frogspawn over the last week are immense. Each day we check to see what is happening now.
Day 1 of frogspawn
Day 2 and already the frogspawn has started to change.
Day 3.
Day 4.
This afternoon J did a frogspawn, tadpole and frog picture. He coloured in a frog and a tadpole and then I cut them out while J glued blue tissue paper onto card to make a pond. J drew black dots onto bubble wrap to make frogspawn. He then glued everything onto the pond to create his finished masterpiece!
