This morning whilst on the school run it started snowing, the children were very excited! We tried to catch snowflakes and we tried to eat them too - they kept melting!
When we got home from school we made the most of the weather and we played outside. The children loved it and were very giddy! They ran around, shouting and laughing. I pointed out our (just about visible) footprints, and I showed them how we could draw in the snow.
I am hoping it snows lots more soon!

4 boys!
As the post header states, today I was caring for 4 pre-school boys! It was necessary that we got out of the house, purely for my sanity if nothing else! We have not let the weather put us off in the past, so we didn't today despite torrential rain, hail and a very chilly wind! We even took a picnic!
(it was necessary for us to shelter underneath the climbing frame from the rain and hail at one point in time, but that just added to the fun!)

Chopsticks
In honour of Chinese New Year the children attempted to eat their lunch using chopsticks. I gave each child 2 chopsticks, and every one of them put one down and attempted to eat using only one chopstick, by scooping and balancing a noodle over the stick! I showed them how to hold the two chopsticks and pinch the food between them, they had a go, then we unanimously agreed that spoons and forks (and fingers) were much easier!

Play dough
It's been a while since I made play dough so I decided to make a batch today. I have been experimenting with (pure) white play dough using cornflour but I haven't managed to find a recipe that works yet, so we had to make do with an off white play dough today, with added silver glitter for a special wintery sparkle.
As well as the usual cutters and rolling pins, I also provided the children with clear and blue glass beads, cake candles, christmas tree lightbulbs and straws. The extra resources were well played with and a great addition to our play dough play, the children chose to make birthday cakes for each other - probably prompted by the candles.
