Snow!

This morning J was very excited about the "snow" he saw on the path as he walked to school; we walked past the snow on our way to take Albie to Starbrite - the snow was in fact some polystyrene that someone had broken up into hundreds of tiny pieces.

After our morning at playgroup, I prepared some fake snow and got out the arctic animals and the Inuit figures in the sensory tray for J to play with, to continue his excitement about the snow.

When Albie came home from Startbrite, and when T came home from school they also enjoyed playing with the snow!

A cardboard box can be so many things!

During a 2 hour period, Albie and J played with a cardboard box and had an amazing amount of fun.  Albie directed the play, instructing J as to what the box now was - during their play the box was...
a fire engine (of course!)
a surf board
a car
a ballet dancing mat
a sofa
a kennel
a fire station
and finally, a fire engine again!

Unfortunately we now need a new box - luckily I have one lurking in the garage somewhere ready for next week!

Children in Need 2011

The children did various activities during Children In Need week.

The children painted Pudsey masks using cotton buds - the theory was they would end up with a spotty mask....

The masks weren't that spotty!

Albie decided he wanted to colour his mask in with pencils as that is his favourite activity at the moment - his mask was the spottiest of them!

The children also coloured in Pudsey posters....

Albie decided his poster was more fun as a paper aeroplane!

Albie and J made spotty cakes....

The cakes were delicious!
